Qui Tam
Qui Tam cases typically arise in the context of false claims against the United States government, particularly the federal agency that provides Medicare funding to hospitals and doctors’ offices. A Qui Tam case also may exist where a party contracting to do work for the government submits false information to the government. Any person with firsthand knowledge that a false claim has been submitted to the government may bring suit to recover that money form the wrongdoer. These cases sometimes are referred to as “whistleblower suits.” Qui Tam cases may be difficult and time consuming but can be highly rewarding if they are handled successfully with experienced and capable attorneys.
